Upscale department store retailer Nordstrom (Seattle) is closer to a deal in New York, according to The New York Times, which reports the retailer is signing a binding agreement with Extell Development to open a 7-story, 300,000-square-foot store in the base of a planned skyscraper on West 57th Street.

The location is about 20 blocks north of Macy’s and well west of Saks Fifth Avenue. Representatives from both Nordstrom and Extell Development declined to comment for The Times article.

Women’s Wear Daily reports sources say no deal has been signed on the West 57th location. The Seattle-based retailer has been close to securing locations in the past.
