6) Lord & Taylor, New York, “Give the Gift of Lord & Taylor.” Inspired by vintage New York, these scenes strive to capture the city’s history of tradition. In order, the windows showcase a story beginning with excitement surrounding the holidays, preparations for celebration and ending with customers from Lord & Taylor shopping for gifts and readying themselves for holiday parties. Design: Lord & Taylor visual team. Photography: Richard Cadan, Fairfield, Conn.

7) Ann Taylor, New York, “Ann Taylor Holiday 2013.” The inspiration behind these vignettes was the idea of aspirational holiday wish lists derived from the Ann Taylor 2013 holiday collection. Expanding on that idea, windows feature stars, bows and packages. Design: Frankie Yap, vp of visual merchandising; Matthew Orbach, senior creative manager of visual merchandising. Photography: Matthew Orbach, New York
