Kroger to Expand in Indianapolis

Will build 11 new stores, remodel 22 others

The Kroger Co. (Cincinnati) announced it will build 11 new stores in Indianapolis by 2017. The company also plans to expand or remodel 22 others in a massive growth plan that will cost $465 million, reports The Indianapolis Star.

The expansion, which began last year, includes building seven new 125,000-square-foot Marketplace stores; building four new 75,000-square-foot superstores; expanding five stores; remodeling 17 stores; and remodeling or adding 22 pharmacies, 16 new fuel centers, 24 Murrays Cheese locations, 27 Starbucks stores and 14 Little Clinics.

The projects are expected to add 3440 jobs.
