Lululemon Leases Men's Space

Brand's first men's store to open in New York's SoHo neighborhood

Lululemon Athletica Inc. (Vancouver) has signed leases for two spaces in New York’s SoHo neighborhood, one of which will serve as its first men’s store. Lululemon’s existing women’s SoHo store will move to the second newly leased space, across from the future men’s store on Prince Street, reports New York real estate news site The Real Deal.

Lululemon's decision to open independent men’s stores was fueled by comparable sales increases of five percent for men's apparel at existing Lululemon stores in the last quarter. By contrast, the stores saw overall single digit declines in same store sales in the first half of 2014, according to Fortune. In addition to yoga apparel, the men’s store will feature gear for other sports, including running, which is expected to resonate more with a male clientele.
