After a year’s delay, Hong Kong apparel maker Ports Design Ltd. will open a Ports 1961 flagship store in New York’s trendy Meatpacking District this weekend. The store is the company’s second U.S. location, after it opened a store in Los Angeles last year.

The 1961 line was introduced in 2005 and is part of the company’s strategy to create China’s first international luxury fashion brand. The line is sold in upscale department stores, featured in magazines such as Vogue and Marie Claire and worn by celebrities like Kelly Preston and Debra Messing.

The New York Ports store was designed by architect Michael Gabellini, who has created retail spaces for Jil Sander and department store Bergdorf Goodman.
