Meijer Introduces Home Delivery

To Detroit-area customers

Published

Meijer (Grand Rapids, Mich.) announced that it is rolling out a home delivery service to shoppers in the greater Detroit area. By partnering with the app-based grocery-delivery service Shipt (Birmingham, Ala.), Meijer customers can place orders through the app and then have them delivered to their home within one hour.

The app allows customers to select from 55,000 items for purchase, including fresh produce, refrigerated and frozen products, as well as other groceries and everyday essentials. Customers who elect to join the program can sign up for monthly or annual Shipt memberships, which cost $14 per month.

The service, which launched this week, is being offered at 25 Detroit-area stores, some of which are open 24 hours a day, making the deliveries also available around the clock at those stores. According to a press release, the retailer may try to expand the Shipt services to other Meijer stores in the future.
