Target Corp. (Minneapolis) announced that Jose Barra, executive vice president of merchandising, has resigned. The company also announced he is leaving for a new position, but details regarding that position have not been released.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Barra was one of three merchandising deputies promoted to evp last year after Target CEO Gregg Steinhafel was ousted.

Barra’s resignation comes one month after his direct supervisor, Kathee Tesija, stepped down from the chief merchandising officer position. Target continues to search for a new cmo, and is considering outside candidates.
