Arts and crafts specialty retailer Michaels Stores Inc. (Irving, Texas) has opened the doors to its first Manhattan location featuring a new urban store design that showcases more than 30,000 products.

Located in the new Columbus Square development at 808 Columbus Avenue at 97th Street, the new 14,700-square-foot store features an open, modern design with wide aisles and warm colors. Fine arts, custom framing, jewelry, scrapbooking and kids departments are organized in a store-within-a-store layout. Inspiration kiosks located throughout the store offer project ideas and work spaces for customers to lay out their designs before purchasing. A New York first, the retailer also offers a delivery service to local shoppers.

“Michaels' customers have been asking us for a Manhattan location for years,” says Michaels ceo John Menzer. “We think they'll love having the breadth and depth of thousands of creative products under one roof.”

Michaels Stores operates more than 1000 stores in 49 states and Canada and over 150 Aaron Brothers stores.
