Minneapolis Target Serves as Test Store

Hopes to roll out new concepts faster

A Target store at the Quarry in northeast Minneapolis has become an official test site for the Minneapolis-based company.

According to the Star Tribune, the retailer has revamped the unit’s departments and displays to show off company-owned brands; allow customers hands-on access to electronics; and offer a baby advisor to help new parents and registry shoppers pick out bibs and bottles. Those are just a few of the innovations the company is vetting.

CEO John Mulligan told the Star Tribune that the company is tinkering with new ideas in the store with the hopes of rolling out the concepts to more stores more quickly than in the past. Although Target tries out new concepts in other markets, the Quarry store is part of its core testing sites.
