Avon plans to sell products in department stores

Avon announces an aggressive new retail strategy. The New York-basedcosmetics retailer plans to have 1600 shop-in-shop concepts indepartment stores by 2003, starting in August with 195 JCPenney andSears, Roebuck stores.

According to a New York Times article, the 115-year-old company hopes toreach the millions of women who don't buy from the company's 3.4 milliondoor-to-door salespeople.
