Bloomingdale’s (New York) said it will enter the Seattle market later this year by opening its third Bloomie’s. Such stores are stocked with a scaled-down selection of Bloomingdale’s soft home merchandise. Also offering drinks and dining options, Bloomie’s has been designed for a “casual, contemporary and highly curated experience,” says the company. The stores average about 20,000 square feet, roughly a tenth of the traditional Bloomingdale’s footprint.

“We are thrilled to enter the Seattle market with the opening of our third Bloomie’s location,” Charles Anderson, Director of Stores, Bloomingdale’s, said in a news release. “The new flexible store experience has been well-received in other cities as it remains authentic to the Bloomingdale’s brand yet brings a new and exciting energy to our shoppers.

The latest Bloomie’s is slated to open later this year within the University Village complex north of downtown Seattle. The other two are in Skokie, Ill., and Fairfax, Va.
