New Chief at Catherines Stores

Ex-Kmart exec takes over Charming Shoppes' plus-size division

Lorna Nagler, a 20-year retail veteran, has been appointed president of Catherines Stores Corp. (Memphis, Tenn.), the plus-size division of Charming Shoppes Inc. (Bensalem, Pa.).

Nagler will be responsible for all aspects of the Catherines Stores business, overseeing merchandising, marketing, stores, financial and operations, reporting directly to Charming Shoppes chairman, ceo and president Dorrit Bern.

Nagler was most recently senior vp and gmm for the apparel division at the Kmart Corp. (Troy, Mich.). Her previous posts included merchandising responsibilities for Kids “R” Us (Paramus, N.J.), Montgomery Ward (Chicago) and Lane Bryant, the plus-size division of The Limited (Columbus, Ohio) that Charming Shoppes purchased in 2001.

Charming Shoppes operates about 1250 Fashion Bug stores that sell moderately-priced apparel and accessories in girls, juniors, misses, and plus sizes, and more than 500 stores under the Catherines Plus Size names.
