In New White Paper, SET Explains Why the Future of Retail is Still Human

Technology’s presence in popular culture is inescapable – so much so that the debate over whether “retail is dying” and “technology is taking over” has caused fluctuating business models in real estate, automotive and large corporations. SET Creative — an award-winning experience agency — suggests a different perspective in that we’ve underestimated the need for brick and mortar, human experiences for retail’s future development.

In SET’s new white paper report —  “Human After All” — technology is painted as a powerful business resource, but one that doesn’t entertain the essential quality that humans bring to the retail table: an understanding of consumer behavior through quality customer interaction. “Vacant stores on the high street and empty car parks at malls represent the changing nature of human behavior. The resulting impact on retail appears severe… [but] retail is not dying, it is evolving to meet a new business model.” A marriage of physical and digital is what will save classic retail from extinction.

The report contains several industry insights and growth strategies:

  • Stats, charts and data that outline the changing retail model

  • Examples of retail brand experiences that represent the future of retail

However present technology is in millennial culture, a recent study shows that a whopping 50 percent of millennials not only go to physical stores, they prefer going to them as a primary means of shopping.
