Nordstrom Inc. (Seattle), the specialty retailer known for lots of shoes and unparalleled customer service, will be the winner of this year's VM+SD/Peter Glen Retailer of the Year Award.

Dave Lindsey, vp, store planning, will discuss Nordstrom's fascinating past and plans for an even-more-fascinating future in a session at VM+SD's International Retail Design Conference ( IRDC) on Thursday morning, Sept. 7, 2006.

The Peter Glen Award is presented each year by VM+SD to the retailer that best embodies the virtues held dear by Glen, a long-time retail critic and columnist who passed away in 2001: smart retailing, good service and an acute awareness of your position in the marketplace. Previous winners have been Target (2001), Limited Brands (2002), Apple Computer (2003), Neiman Marcus (2004) and Federated Department Stores (2005).

Other retailers scheduled to present at IRDC, scheduled for September 6-8 in San Francisco, include The Gap, Apple Computer, Pacific Sunwear, Borders Group, Neiman Marcus, Lowe's, Harley-Davidson, JC Penney and much more.
