As its bankruptcy filing date nears, RadioShack Inc. (Fort Worth, Texas) is considering closing half its stores and selling the rest.

On Tuesday, Bloomberg Business reported that Amazon.com Inc. (Seattle) has discussed acquiring some RadioShack locations. Amazon would be joining other potential bidders, including Sprint Corp., and the investment group behind Brookstone, in evaluating RadioShack stores, according to Bloomberg.

Amazon has considered using the RadioShack stores as showcases for the company’s hardware, as well as potential pick-up and drop-off centers for online customers, said an unnamed source in the Bloomberg Business article.
