The Retail Group, Seattle retail strategy and design agency, has announced the appointment of well-respected industry veteran Christian Davies as executive creative director. Davies had formerly been creative director of the US retail division of Fitch (Columbus, Ohio, the world's second-largest branding and design consultancy).

This is the second executive addition for the firm in the last couple of months. Earlier it had hired Gene Silverberg as ceo. Silverberg had been a prominent Chicago retailer responsible for such high-concept stores as Bigsby & Kruthers and The Knot Shop.

Davies, a native of the U.K., has a decade of award-winning experience for clients ranging from Chrysler and Timberland to Universal Studios and The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. He has won a variety of international design honors, including a Business Week Designs of the Decade award. He will relocate from Boston to Seattle.

The Seattle-based Retail Group has been consultant to a number of manufacturers and retailers, including Radio Shack, Sears, Whirlpool, Bebe, Payless Shoe, Hewlett Packard, Kids 'R Us and Nike, in the creation of branding and design strategies.
