Staples Renting Space to Business Owners

Testing new concept in three Boston stores

Published

Staples (Framingham, Mass.) announced it will be testing a new concept to drive traffic and increase revenue in three of its Boston-area stores.

The office-supply chain has teamed up Workbar LLC (Boston) to turn space within these stores into “office spaces” that mobile professionals and small-business owners can rent and use to work.

According to Money, the hope is these professionals would also become customers, purchasing office supplies directly from the stores.

Peter Scala, head of merchandising at Staples, said,  “Our goal here is to continually focus on making large stores more productive.”
