Target: England

U.S. discount chain in talks with Selfridges for London pop-up store

Target Corp. (Minneapolis) is reportedly talking to U.K. department store operator Selfridges plc (London) about opening its first non-U.S. outlet.

According to Marketing Week, U.K.-based business publication, the discussions have centered around Target opening a “pop up” temporary store in Selfridges to coincide with London Fashion Week in September.

Marketing Week reports the initiative “is aimed at boosting Target's brand credentials in the U.S. by providing publicity and marketing collateral.” Target already has a working relationship with British pharmaceutical chain Boots, selling its healthcare products in its U.S. stores.

A fashion designer is understood to have developed a clothing line for the launch. The store would open during London Fashion Week, Sept. 15-20, 2007, and remain open until all stock is sold.
