Tesla Motors (Palo Alto, Calif.) has announced plans to launch 10 stores in North America by the end of November, beginning with a store in Garden City, N.Y. today. The electric-car manufacturer is including interactive displays, including a design studio where shoppers can customize a Tesla Model S on a touchscreen, which is then projected onto an 85-in. video wall.

George Blankenship, vp of worldwide sales and ownership experience, says, “Our approach continues to be geared towards engaging and informing more people about Tesla and Model S and the technology behind it. Customers can walk into a no-pressure environment, ask questions and engage with informative product specialists to learn more about the many advantages of going electric. We know we've done our job when customers leave smiling.”

Nine additional locations are planned for the following venues: Westfield Garden State Plaza, Paramus, N.J.; The Mall at Short Hills, Morristown, N.J.; Westfield University Town Center, San Diego, Calif.; Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, Fla.; Tyson's Corner, McLean, Va. and Westfield Topanga, Topanga, Calif.

The company also plans to open its first Canadian store at Yorkdale Shopping Center in Toronto, Ontario in November.
