2005 Holiday Window, Toronto

Blockbuster movies frequently become themes for retailers' holiday displays. Hudson's Bay chose to feature “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe,” which hit the big screen at the end of 2005.

For each movie scene, animated characters were modeled out of clay by Spaeth Design Inc. (New York), which also handled the set design and propping. The film's soundtrack was played on an outdoor music system, immersing revelers in the Narnia world.

“Our goal is to create windows that entice, captivate, entertain and just bring on a smile,” says Ana Fernandes, The Bay's creative design manager. “All the hard work and planning that goes into holiday windows pays off when you stand back and watch adults' and children's reactions and hear their comments.”
