Barneys New York will rebrand two of its Barneys Co-op stores this summer, perhaps as a plan to eliminate the entire Co-op operation.

The stores, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and at The Grove in Los Angeles, will assume the Barneys New York banners.

After the renovation, reports Women’s Wear Daily, the stores will no longer sell men’s merchandise and will feature more handbags, shoes, jewelry and designer ready-to-wear.

The Co-op fleet has been shrinking. One of the inaugural sites, on New York’s West 18th Street, closed last month after the lease expired. Over the past two years, Barneys has closed Co-ops in Dallas, Chevy Chase, Md., San Diego, Houston and White Plains, N.Y. The Atlanta store will close this summer.
