Uniqlo Opens Boston Flagship

Expensive renovation to preserve building’s heritage

Uniqlo (Tokyo) opens a new flagship store in Boston today. Located at Faneuil Hall Marketplace, the 12,000-square-foot, two-level store stands as one of the company’s most expensive renovations per square foot due to efforts to maintain aspects of the building’s heritage.

The store has exposed, brick walls in some of the rooms, which feature different Uniqlo collections including men’s, women’s and designer collaborations that are not available in any of the other Boston stores. The store, however, does not include children’s clothes beause of the space’s size, reports the Boston Herald.

Boston has sister-status with Kyoto, Japan, so the store also pays homage to that connection with framed, signed jerseys of two Japanese Red Sox players and a section of books on Japanese culture, food, travel, art and history.
