Walgreens to Activate Mobile Vaccination Clinics

Deerfield, Ill.-based retailer Walgreens plans to open multiple mobile vaccination clinics around the Chicagoland area as part of a national rollout, reports Forbes. The move is part of a coordinated effort to reach medically underserved communities.

“We understand the important role Walgreens has and will continue to play in removing access barriers to the COVID-19 vaccine,” Walgreens president John Standley said. “Mobile clinics and the other models we use will allow us to bring vaccines to the heart of the most impacted communities, as well as addressing common barriers like transportation and convenience for those who want to get vaccinated.”

The mobile clinics are an extension of the 700 vaccination clinics Walgreens has hosted at churches and community centers around the country.
