Michael Kors Holdings Ltd. (New York) is entering a period of growth, and is set to launch dozens of freestanding stores and in-store shops in the coming year.

The company expects to open 45 North American stores in 2015, as well as 15 free-standing stores in Japan. Michael Kors chairman and ceo John Idol says the company is also continuing to convert department store merchandising to shops-within-shops for accessories, footwear and women’s and men’s wear combined. The company ended its 2014 fiscal year with 1560 shops-within-shops worldwide, and plans to open 500 in fiscal 2,015, according to Women’s Wear Daily. The company also plans to expand its collection of airport travel shops from 50 to 75.
