Walmart Brings Santa to Stores

Uses holiday strategies to fight Amazon

Published

on

Walmart (Bentonville, Ark.) is bringing costumed Santa Clauses to 3600 Supercenter stores across the country for the first time in December, and offering photos with Santa for the first two weekends of the month.

Walmart stores will also feature holiday music playing over loudspeakers, toy demonstrations and food tastings throughout the holiday season.

Business Insider reports that Walmart’s move toward holiday revelry is an attempt to fight Amazon.com Inc. (Seattle) by drawing customers into brick-and-mortar stores.
