Grocery chain H-E-B (San Antonio) is converting its convenience stores to the new H-E-B Fresh Bites brand, which will provide customers more fresh options such as produce, prepared food and meal options.

The first H-E-B Fresh Bites opened earlier this month adjacent to an existing H-E-B grocery store in Leander, Texas, while an existing H-E-B convenience store in Lytle, Texas, is being changed over to the concept. Both locales will include a True Texas Tacos restaurant.

With the opening of the Leander location, H-E-B has 12 C-stores throughout Texas. The company plans to convert its other existing C-stores to the H-E-B Fresh Bites brand in coming months. (Many will also house True Texas Tacos locales.)

H-E-B Fresh Bites locations feature refrigerated cases stocked with items such as fresh produce, salads, sandwiches, sushi made daily, meat and cheese snacks, fresh juices, kombucha and Meal Simple options.

“At H-E-B, we’re always looking to provide Texans convenient ways to get their hands on quality, fresh foods that are good for them,” said Scott Campbell, Convenience Store Operations Manager. “With the introduction of H-E-B Fresh Bites, we’re bringing the freshest products to our customers who are on the go but want a better alternative to traditional convenience store snacks.”
