Mariano's Supermarket Opens in Chicago

Special features set retailer apart

Published

on

The grocery-store chain Mariano’s (Chicago) has opened its largest supermarket store. Located at 2323 Capital Drive in Chicago’s Northbrook area, the 90,602-square-foot is almost twice as large as the median-size of most U.S. supermarkets, which in 2013 measured 46,500 square feet.

According to The Chicago Tribune, the retailer wanted this location to stand out, and, consequently, incorporated a number of unique features into the store’s design. Two of these include a glass-walled, walk-in cheese room where customers can select from hundreds of varieties of cheese and a gelato pop station where customers can customize the treats with their choice of toppings. Both of these features are unique to this location.
