Loewe Opens First U.S. Store

Features dramatic Spanish architectural installation

The first Loewe (Madrid) store in North America opened last weekend, harkening back to the brand’s Spanish heritage in the heart of Miami’s Design District. Creative director Jonathan Anderson purchased and imported the store’s 18th-Century Spanish granary building, or “hórreo.” The structure had to be taken apart, shipped and rebuilt onsite. Loewe says it will return the structure to its original site in ten years, according to Women’s Wear Daily.

The sparse, white space that serves as a backdrop to the 36-foot granary features William Morris-inspired furniture for a “hyper-glossy feel,” said Anderson. “It’s a white box with a stone building inside.”

The Miami unit is the third Loewe store to open under Anderson’s direction. Anderson is currently designing a Paris Loewe store. The brand is owned by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (Paris).
