Barnes & Noble’s (New York) is considering spinning off its Nook unit based on the e-reader’s success. The company says it has begun “strategic exploratory work” to separate the Nook division, in an effort to help the business grow, reports the Wilmington Star News.

While Barnes & Noble’s sales have struggled over recent quarters, sales tied to the Nook, including devices and digital content, have had double-digit growth. The retailers says it may start reporting Nook-related sales as a separate business segment, and added that it was in talks with potential partners to expand the Nook’s presence abroad, according to an article in Wilmington Star News.

“We see substantial value in what we’ve built with our Nook business in only two years, and we believe it’s the right time to investigate our options to unlock that value,” says ceo William Lynch Jr.
