McDonald's Reports Strong July Sales

McDonald's Corp. (Oak Brook, Ill.) reported sales at U.S. restaurants open at least 13 months grew 5.7 percent, the company’s biggest monthly increase since it recorded a 6.1 percent gain in April 2009. The fast-food chain attributed the introduction of its new fruit smoothies and sales of iced frappes as a big summer hit with customers.

On a global perspective, same-store sales increased 7 percent, while sales climbed 5.3 percent in Europe and 10.1 percent in the Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa regions.

McDonald's operates more than 32,000 restaurants around the world in 100 countries.
