Medical and adult-use cannabis is the fastest growing industry in the U.S., and as significant legislation changes open up new markets – both domestically and internationally – design and architecture firms have much to offer this new sector. Megan Stone, owner and founder of The High Road Design Studio (Phoenix) briefed attendees on this new future of retail during her session “How Legal Cannabis is Becoming the World’s Most Intriguing Retail Sector” at the International Retail Design Conference (IRDC) 2016 in Montréal. Attendees heard insights on what happens in these stores, what makes designing a dispensary different from any other retail space and why design is critical in shaping the future of the cannabis industry.
