Aldi (Essen, Germany) has unveiled plans to open 45 new locations in Southern California next year. The first stores are set to open March 2016.

Supermarket News reports that this expansion is part of the company’s five-year strategic plan to open 650 new locations, with the goal of operating close to 2000 stores by 2018.

The expansion will reportedly create 1100 new jobs in Southern California, including at Aldi’s regional headquarters.
