Paula Schneider announces departure from the company

American Apparel (Los Angeles) CEO Paula Schneider announced in a letter that she will resign October 3.

According to Bizwomen, Schneider wrote in the letter that the potential sale of the company might not allow American Apparel to follow her turnaround plan or “allow the brand to stay true to its ideals.”

Schneider began her post in early 2015. One of the company’s T-shirt plants was shut down as part of her turnaround strategy, causing employee protests.

Chelsea Grayson, American Apparel’s general counsel, executive vp and corporate secretary, is expected to step in as ceo.
