Robert Hanson out, Jay Schottenstein in temporarily

American Eagle Outfitters Inc. (Pittsburgh) has announced that ceo Robert Hanson is leaving the company. Executive chairman Jay Schottenstein will replace him on an interim basis and Roger Markfield will postpone his retirement and continue to serve as vice chairman and executive creative director.

The teen-apparel retailer has been struggling. Earlier this month, it announced that same-store sales tumbled 7 percent during the nine-month holiday shopping period ended Jan. 4, 2014.
