American Eagle Names New Ceo

Former CEO Jay L. Schottenstein takes reins

American Eagle Outfitters Inc. (Pittsburgh) has officially named chairman Jay L. Schottenstein as the company’s ceo. He was previously ceo for the company from March 1992 until December 2002 and has been acting as interim ceo since January 2014.

When Schottenstein became interim ceo, the company was struggling with profits having dropped 89 percent in its fourth quarter, reports Women’s Wear Daily. Since stepping in, the company’s general net income increased from the $10.5 million it was at when Schottenstein took over to $61.6 million as of its most recent Q4 data earlier this year, reports WWD.
