Another Day, Another Family Dollar

Higher-end retailers may be questioning the strength of the economy, but Family Dollar Stores (Matthews, N.C.) is rolling along. The fast-growing discount store chain opened 46 new stores during the five-week period ended Feb. 3, 2001. With these additional stores, the company now operates 3875 stores.

The 46 newest store locations are: six each in Texas and Virginia; three each in Florida, Michigan, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania; two each in Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts and Ohio; and one each in Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
