Anthony Deen Joins CBX as Creative Director, Branded Environments

Veteran retail, hospitality, airport and commercial facilities architect and designer Anthony Deen has joined brand agency and retail design consultancy CBX as Creative Director, Branded Environments. In his position, Deen will partner with senior management in shaping the vision for retail, restaurant and hospitality clients’ branded environments that are relevant in the marketplace. He reports to Rick Barrack, Founding Partner & Chief Creative Officer. Deen comes to CBX from Landor, a brand consulting and design firm in New York City, where he was Creative Director, Environment Design since 2011. In that position, he served as practice leader in branded environments and provided hands-on design and project oversight from concept to construction for such clients as Barclays Capital, the Central Park Conservancy, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and The Related Companies. Prior to that, he was a Senior Designer at Jeffrey Beers International, New York, N.Y., directing restaurant and hospitality projects for The Plaza Hotel food court and The Hotel Gloria in Brazil. From 2007-2010, Deen was a Senior Associate, Senior Design Director at TPG Architecture, New York, N.Y., where he served as studio and design lead for airport, retail and hospitality clients, including British Airways, Chelsea Market and Macy’s Herald Square. From 2003-2007, he worked at Rockwell Group, New York, N.Y. as Associate, Senior Architect responsible for design and project oversight for clients such as FAO Schwarz, JetBlue Airways, Macy’s, and the W Hotel Group. Earlier in his career, he served as Vice President, Retail Design and Brand Development for Virgin Entertainment Group, Los Angeles. In that role, he served as store design lead for Richard Branson’s megastore chain in North America, with responsibility for the look and feel of the U.S. stores. Deen began his career in 1995 as a partner with Thinkware/ThinkSpace, an architectural design-build firm in New York City. While at the firm, Deen also served as an adjunct associate professor at Parsons School of Design, School of Art, Media + Technology, where he cofounded and directed the school’s Design and Technology graduate program. A resident of Brooklyn, N.Y., Deen holds a Masters of Architecture from the Parsons School of Design and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Cooper Union For the Advancement of Science and Art, Schools of Art and Architecture. CBX specializes in creative marketing services including: branding, retail design, packaging, naming and promotional programming.
