Apple to Open First Stores in India

Partners with Croma for six in-store shops

Apple (Cupertino, Calif.) has announced it will be opening its first stores in India within the next few weeks.

The retailer will open six Apple stores in time for the country’s Diwali festival in November. The new stores will operate as small boutiques within already-existing Croma (Mumbai, India) stores, which will have areas redesigned so they share the signature Apple Store look.

According to The Independent, the retailer is also considering bringing Apply Pay and Apple factories to the country, as well.

Until now, the retailer has not been able to establish its own retail presence in the country due to local laws that insist that foreign investors must have a local partner before opening up stores.
