April Not Cruel to Neiman’s

Retailer reports strong revenue growth in month, quarter

The Neiman Marcus Group (Dallas) has reported a 21.4 percent jump in both total revenues and comparable revenues for its third fiscal quarter ending May 1, 2004.

The luxury retailer also reported a 14 percent gain in both total revenues and comparable revenues for April 2004.

In the four-week April period, comparable revenues in the Specialty Retail Stores segment, which includes 35 Neiman Marcus stores, 14 Last Call stores and the two Bergdorf Goodman stores in New York, increased 14.1 percent. Revenue growth trends were the strongest in the company’s stores in the West.

The merchandise categories in the Specialty Retail Stores segment that performed the strongest included designer handbags and accessories, couture, contemporary sportswear, women’s shoes and the men’s categories.
