Balenciaga Opens in Silicon Valley

Joins luxury brands at Valley Fair

Balenciaga (Paris) has opened its first store in Northern California. Located at the Valley Fair shopping district in Santa Clara, “It is uniquely situated in the heart of Silicon Valley — a region at the forefront of innovative ideas in many fields and so therefore, an appropriate fit for Balenciaga,” Isabelle Guichot, president and ceo, told Women’s Wear Daily. She added, “Silicon Valley has recently made news because Apple has hired on so many luxury-fashion executives to join their team,” said Guichot. “So in this sense there is a nice link between innovation in technology, design, retail [and] fashion.”

The 1680-square-foot space features Balenciaga’s current retail aesthetic designed by artistic director Alexander Wang and interior designer Ryan Korban. Walls are covered in deep green “Verde Rameggiato” Italian marble and shelves are constructed of cracked resin. Balenciaga joins other luxury retailers at Valley Fair, including Cartier, Tiffany, Prada, Miu Miu, Giorgio Armani, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Mulberry and Michael Kors.
