Bottega Veneta Opens 'Maison' Store

Inspired by Southern California architecture

Bottega Veneta (Milan) has opened a new store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, Calif., this week.

After two years of planning, this location is part of the retailer’s new approach to designing its stores: Dubbed a “maison,” it takes its design cues from the local tastes and architecture.

Designed in part by Tomas Maier, Bottega Veneta’s creative director, the Beverly Hills location drew inspiration from Mediterranean Revival architecture in the area. The store reflects a minimalistic view of the era with unpolished Piscina stone floors, plaster walls and bleached-oak ceilings, reports The Wall Street Journal.

This location is one of only a few maisons that the company plans to open and replaces a former location further down Rodeo Drive that Maier said had become “too impersonal.”
