Animated Christmas windows
David Jones, Sydney

Judges enjoyed the play of scale employed by David Jones in its “'Twas the Night Before Christmas” windows.

Six windows were created as large ornate storybook pages featuring various scenes from the poem by Clement Clarke Moore. On the left page, a vignette accompanied text from the actual poem, telling visitors about the scene. On the right side, animation further brought the scene to life. Among the scenes were sugarplum fairies dancing in a 1930s-style theater and a birds-eye view of Santa Claus' sleigh spiraling down to land on the rooftops while snowflakes swirled about.
