Myer Grace Bros. hires former Federated executive

Australian retail organization Coles Myer Ltd. (Tooronga, Victoria) has hired Dawn Robertson, formerly executive vp of Cincinnati-based Federated Department Stores, into an unspecified management position in its Myer Grace Bros. department store chain. Robertson will report directly to Warren Flick, coo of general merchandise and apparel (and former Kmart executive), when she starts later this month.

Robertson's career includes stints with Davidson's in Atlanta, the May Co., G Fox, Kaufmann's and McRae's, a division of Saks Inc. She joined Federated in 1998 and was appointed president and cmo of Federated Direct in July 2000. She announced her resignation earlier this week.

Six weeks ago, Coles Myer ceo John Fletcher announced his targets for the company, which includes the doubling of profits in five years. One of Robertson's first responsibilities will be to bring back customers who left the stores when Coles Myer foundered in the late 1990s.
