Thomas Monaghan, founder of Domino’s Pizza Inc. (Ann Arbor, Mich.), plans to open a gourmet burger delivery concept called Gyrene Hamburger, named after the nickname for a marine. The first location will debut in downtown Naples, Fla., within the next few months, and will sell only hamburgers. And unlike traditional hamburger chains, it will offer only pick-up or delivery services, no restaurant dining.

“Hamburgers are more popular than pizza,” Monaghan says. “My bag is delivery. So I thought I had something there.”

Monaghan says he’s testing the 800-square-foot store to see if it can become a prototype for a national, or even international, franchise, reports the Daily Naples News.

The dining concept will target tourists, residents and workers downtown, with delivery stretching to the Gulf beaches.
