Bankrupt retailer had expected to gain financing, keep going

Dots LLC (Glenwillow, Ohio), the discount women’s fashion retailer that filed for bankruptcy protection in January, is selling off all of its clothing, furniture and fixtures, closing its headquarters office and liquidating about 360 stores nationwide.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Gordon Brothers Group, a Boston global advisory, restructuring and investment firm, has been awarded the job of overseeing Dots' going-out-of-business sales.

At the time of the bankruptcy announcement, in late January, Dots ceo Lisa Rhodes said, “We are in the process of turning the business around, and the filing is another step toward doing that.”

The Plain Dealer reports that even the Dots web site says: “Keep Calm: We're not going to skirt the issue – dots.com is currently under construction. We know you're disappointed, but we'll be back soon!”
