MANAGEMENT CHANGES

Retail-architecture executive Ali Yadegari, formerly of Bob Evans Farms Inc. (Columbus, Ohio), is GreenbergFarrow’s (Atlanta) new director of retail design. In this position, Yadegari will develop restaurant and store prototypes and be responsible for client design services and business development.

Halco Lighting Technologies (Norcross, Ga.) hired Jeff Emerson as a product analyst. Emerson will be responsible for product development and industry-trend research, as well as product testing and analysis.

Todd Shaw is Prolitec Inc.’s (Milwaukee) new vp, operations. Shaw joins the ambient-scent provider after 14 years with Unisource Worldwide (Milwaukee), a paper and packaging design company. Shaw will manage client services, procurement, production, logistics and facility operations in his new role.

Starbucks Coffee Co. (Seattle) has promoted Adam Brotman to chief digital officer and Curt Garner to chief information officer. Brotman was previously a senior vp for Starbucks Digital Ventures; Garner was most recently the company’s senior vp of business technology.

Shoe retailer DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse (Columbus, Ohio) has added a store in Abingdon, Md.’s Constant Friendship Shopping Center. The company currently operates 328 stores in 40 states.

BUSINESS BRIEFS

A 10-screen movie theater is opening at The Dunes on Monterey Bay, a 375,000-square-foot shopping center in Marina, Calif. The location is also home to Target, Kohl’s, REI, Best Buy and other national retailers. The venue is the result of a deal between Shea Properties (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) and Cinemark Holdings Inc. (Plano, Texas), the parent company of Century Theatres.

Destination Maternity Corp. (Philadelphia) is expanding into South Korea with its new e-retail website, www.destinationmaternity.co.kr, which will offer local shipping and the A Pea in the Pod, A Pea in the Pod Collection and Motherhood Maternity brands. Destination Maternity recently partnered with Agabang & Co. (Seoul) to develop branded retail locations and share merchandise marketing in South Korea.

Moss Inc. (Grand Junction, Colo.) is launching Visual Impulse, a new brand that will offer retail design, prototyping, project management and installation services. In addition, the new division will research and develop new retail products.

The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) announces the winners of its Global Awards for Latin American shopping centers. Thirty-two shopping centers, which represent nine Latin American countries, were honored this year for achievements in marketing, design and retail-property development.
