Kroger Appoints Sustainability Director

Suzanne Lindsay joins new post with grocer

The Kroger Co. (Cincinnati) named Suzanne Lindsay as its first director of sustainability. In her new position, Lindsay will direct internal sustainability initiatives for the grocery retailer and will lead the company’s sustainability leadership team.

Prior to Kroger, Lindsay led sustainability initiatives at PetSmart.

“We have made substantial progress in sustainability in the past five years through energy savings, waste reduction, transportation efficiency and by reducing the use of plastic bags,” says Lynn Marmer, group vp, corporate affairs at Kroger. “Suzanne will help us accelerate our progress and identify new opportunities to improve our environmental stewardship. We are pleased that she is joining the Kroger family.”

Kroger is the nation's largest traditional grocery retailer, operating more than 2,435 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 31 states under two dozen local banner names including Kroger, City Market, Dillons, Jay C, Food 4 Less, Fred Meyer, Fry's, King Soopers, QFC, Ralphs and Smith's.
