Ethical Fashion on show at Buckingham Palace

On February 22nd, during the London Fashion Week, Buckingham Palace hosted “The Commonwealth Fashion Exchange, a project to showcase a wealth of design and artisan fashion talents across 53 countries of the Commonwealth. All participates were asked to create clothes highlighting traditional heritage, skills, craftmanship and industry, as well as innovation, technology and sustainability. 

On hehalf of Her Majesty The Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton and HRH The Countess of Wessex, Sophie Rhys-Jones, hosted a reception to celebrate 30 CFE creations displayed in the Palace's State Apartments. The Palace celebration included guests from fashion industry across the Commonwealth nation with attendees including Anna Wintour, Edward Enniful, Livia Firth, Nadja Swarovski, Neelam Gill, Nigel Gosse, Ulric Jerome, Naomi Campbell, Stella McCartney, Adwoa Aboah and Caroline Rush.

The initiative was launched earlier this month by Commonwealth Secretary General the RtHon Patricia Scotland and Livia Firth who wanted all designers creations to be showcased on Bonaveri biodegradable mannequins in B Plast, the bio-based product made out of sugar cane for the 72% https://bonaveri.com/sustainability/

The Commonwealth Fashion Exchange moved on February 22nd to Australia House for a two weeks public exhibition. Livia and Colin Firth, Noella Coursaris Musunska, Nadja Swarovski, Nigel Gosse and Ulric Jerome hosted a private reception at Australia House to celebrate the launch of the public exhibition that will last till March 6th. Afterwards the creations will be exhibited during the Commonwealth Summit itself.
