EuroShop Opens This Week

VM+SD's Steve Kaufman will moderate a Congress at the Feb. 23-27 international trade show in Germany

EuroShop, Europe's triennial store design, shopfitting and visual merchandising trade show, will begin Feb. 23, 2002, in Dusseldorf, Germany. It will run until February 27.

Thousands of exhibitors from all over the world will set up booths in Messe Dusseldorf's 17 pavilions. This year, the show will be divided into four segments: EuroConcept (shopfitting, store equipment, lighting technology); EuroSales (visual merchandising, sales promotion, p-o-s marketing); EuroCIS (communications, information, security technology, logistics); and EuroExpo (booth construction and design).

A large conference program, organized by the POS Marketing Association and the European Retail Institute, will be held on February 25-27. The German POS Marketing Award will be presented on February 26.

On Saturday, February 23, the European Retail Institute (EHI) will sponsor an “Architects'and Designers'Day,” featuring retail speakers from Europe and the U.S. VM+SD editor Steve Kaufman will moderate the event, which will feature, among others, James Mansour (Mansour Design), Dawn Clark and Paula Stafford (Callison Architects) and Mike Tiedy (Nike) from the U.S.; Julie Oxberry (20/20 Ltd.) and Richard Cristofoli (Sainsbury's) from the U.K.; Paolo Luchetta (RetailDesign) from Italy; and Dr. Stephan Mayer-Heinisch (AG/Humanic) from Austria. Topics will include Retail Trends; Branding; Brand-shifting; Shopping Excitement; the Architecture of Emotions; and Big and Small Food Retailing.
