Gap's Pressler Joins Avon Board; Real Digital Media Teams with Rogers Video; Shops at Columbus Circle Wins SADI Award

Management Changes:

Avon Products Inc. (New York) announced that Paul Pressler has been elected to its board of directors. Pressler is president and ceo of Gap Inc. (San Francisco).

MBH Architects (Alameda, Calif.) has hired Chris Coonan as studio director for its new retail developments studio. Coonan previously worked for Target Corp. and Dayton Hudson Corp.

Real Digital Media (RDM, Sarasota, Fla.) is installing an in-store digital signage network for Rogers Video (Richmond, B.C.), which operates more than 300 retail outlets in Canada.

PlayNetwork Inc. (Redmond, Wash., provider of custom audio and visual systems for retail environments) has installed customized music programs for more than 100 stores operated by Jockey Intl. Inc. (Kenosha, Wis., retailer of comfort apparel).

JHP Design (London) is creating a new retail banking concept for Tiroler Sparkasse, an Austrian bank with 45 branches.

Arena Media Networks (New York operator of digital displays in sports and entertainment arenas) announced the following advertisers have begun displaying messages on its network: MasterCard, GEICO insurance, Nokia and New York City OTB.

Graft (Los Angeles architecture firm) has created an exhibition environment for the SCI FI Channel. The exhibit debuted at the recent Comic-Con Intl. show in San Diego.

Awards:

The Shops at Columbus Circle (New York) received the Editor's Award in the Superior Achievement in Design and Imaging (SADI) competition sponsored by Retail Traffic magazine. The shopping complex, in the Time Warner Center, was developed by The Related Cos. LP (New York) and Apollo Real Estate Advisors LP (New York) and planned and designed by Howard Elkus of Elkus Manfredi Architects (Boston).
